Grotte di Frasassi
Frasassi caves are underground caves that are located within the Regional Natural Park of Gola della Rossa and phrases in the municipality of Genga in the province of Ancona. Within the karst caves you can admire the natural sculptures formed by layers of limestone over 190 million years thanks to the work of water and rock. The water flowing on the limestone dissolves small amounts of limestone fell to the ground during a steady downpour that lasts thousands of years, the deposit and form large concretions and sometimes strange shapes. These are divided into stalagmites (which grow columns progressing from bottom to top) and stalactites (hanging from the ceiling instead of the cavity).
