Assisi

She is known for being the city where they were born, lived and died in St. Francis, patron saint of Italy, and St. Clare.
The construction of the Upper Basilica of Assisi is a direct consequence of the influence he had on the Order in 1239 the succession to Brother Elias of new Father General of French origin. At the architectural achievement followed the fresco decorations before Cimabue (1277) (Frescoes from 27 to 32) and Giotto (1296) with the beginning of the vast series of paintings of "Stories of St. Francis", consisting of 28 works (from Fresco 3 to 16 and 33 to 46).
The Basilica of Santa Chiara, built in Gothic style, draws the line in the Upper Basilica of Assisi, with large external columns and the pattern of the stone facade of two colors (pink and white) Subasio where stands the beautiful rose.
